I designed, painted and dressed the set for The Ruby Slippers, touring around the UK and most recently playing at The Arts Theatre in London. It was written by Emma Culshaw and David Paul and directed by Craig Ryder. I designed a run down drag bar themed around the Wizard of Oz with the bar becoming the house of Dorothy and a rainbow roughly painted on the back. It brings tacky elements together in a mismatch with draped decorations and LGBT flags all around. The set comes to life when the lights come up showing there is still life in the bar, however when the lights are down it looks dark, grungy and run down.
